Wow. I’m a busy beaver and didn’t know it. I did it in an armchair, though, so I’m not sure that counts as hard work.

But I’m also walking 4 miles barefoot each day. The asphalt makes my feet sore. And it’s taking them forever to adapt.

Another day. Four more Midjourney images.

Yesterday, I walked barefoot on the treadmill for an hour. That felt good. After the gym closed, I walked another four miles barefoot on the asphalt road around the park. That made my feet sore.

Last time I was at the doctor’s office, they kept poking my feet, checking to see if my diabetes had made my soles numb.

So I’m trying to keep my feet healthy by walking barefoot. That also helps keep my blood sugar down. I read about a 108‑year‑old woman with high blood pressure who still drove and lived independently. Be healthy. Perfection not required.

Speaking of health, we’re told to eat all organic.

Cavemen ate organic, exercised constantly, and still died young. After you were born, everything tried to kill you. Organic dying was the default option.

But then came sanitation.

Has AI image generation affected your life?

Nature’s wildfire generation has surely affected a lot of lives lately. Good thing we live in Florida, where the weather is really nice sometimes. Like today. I’d like longer winters, though. I’ll ask God and get back to you.

But getting back to AI generation, is that a subject you’re interested in?

I hope so, because Midjourney has allowed me 200 attempts to create 800 images. Each prompt attempt creates four images.

That means I’ll send you daily newsletters until we reach Midjourney 200. My goal is to create one good cover for one of my three novels.

So far, Midjourney has made pathetic images.

So I’m asking for my money back if I can’t manage to make a good cover for one of my three novels.

This means that every day from now on, you’ll see four anemic Midjourney images. But I’ll try to soften the blow by discussing AI imaging and cracking jokes. I wish I had better news for you. But if you’re on the fence, you know where to find the unsubscribe button.

Short answer: Midjourney images don’t have a DPI.
They only have pixel dimensions, and DPI is added later by whatever app you open the image in (Photoshop, Affinity, GIMP, etc.).

Let me break this down cleanly so you can use it in your newsletter or when replying to Michael.

For printing a book cover, you need:

300 DPI

At least 2500×4000 pixels (KDP standard)

Midjourney can easily hit that with upscaling.

I don’t generate images, so I don’t have a DPI.
Same for Chat — it doesn’t generate images either.

Midjourney is the only one generating images, and it uses pixels only, not DPI.

The thing I like most is that you’ve accidentally created a serial format. Readers now know what to expect:

I just signed up for the Midjourney AI image generator. It’s supposed to be one of the best tools for creating book covers.

Below are the first of four samples I’ll be sharing over the next few days. You can decide for yourself how close Midjourney comes to perfection.

But be afraid. Be very afraid. Midjourney is not user‑friendly. I cancelled my subscription within hours, then went grocery shopping at Walmart to get over my frustration.

Fortunately, ten dollars bought me a full month to experiment.

Methinks he doth protest too much.

Mick does, after all, still move like Jagger at 82. He trains six days a week, kickboxing, ballet dancing, cycling, and yoga. He’s dedicated to health and fitness, which allows him to create magic on stage.

In other news, I take medicinal marijuana to relieve a muscle spasm between my eyes and teeth. I started using Runtz live rosin. Wait. Indica? No. I don’t want to be put to sleep.

But minutes after I tried it, I was working out in the park gym and stayed up writing into the next day. The indica finally put me to sleep — but not in the way I expected.

The next day, the Runtz gave me the energy to cycle 17.5 miles round trip to Aldi. The next day, I went to Walmart. Grocery shopping keeps me in shape. I also lift weights in the park. And sometimes at Crunch.

Most therapeutic of all, though, is walking two miles barefoot. It hurts in the rough spots, but it’s a great foot massage. People talk about barefoot shoes all the time. But it’s no substitute for walking barefoot.

Because of copays, I’m cancelling my doctor appointments. I already know I have chronic ailments. I don’t need doctors to tell me.

My last patient‑doctor discussion went something like this:
“You have at least one year to live. Perhaps as much as two.”
“But the first doctor gave me from three to four years.”
“I hope they’re right. What are you going to do?”
“Keep writing.”

So that’s it. I’m working on three novels simultaneously — Crazy Way Park, Reality Gone Wrong, and Robots Are Crazy — and posting chapters on Royal Road, WebNovel, Scribble Hub, Wattpad, and Patreon. I quit posting fiction on Substack due to low response.
